Rob Stimpson

Rob Stimpson is an internationally published, award-winning photographer whose work has appeared in Canadian Geographic and Explore Magazine. His honours include a Northern Lights Award from the Canadian Tourism Commission and a Best Travel Photography Award from the Ontario Tourism Summit. In 2012, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, for which he also serves as a travel ambassador.

Rob has photographed for Parks Canada, Ontario Parks and Ontario Tourism, with images displayed at the Canadian Canoe Museum and Ontario Parks visitor centres. His work has been exhibited at the Algonquin Art Centre and Toronto’s TIFF Lightbox, where his Polar Shift exhibition explored the Arctic and Antarctic.

Drawn to wilderness and remote landscapes, Rob has worked as an expedition photographer and photographer in residence in Antarctica, the Arctic and Greenland. Closer to home, the forests, lakes and shorelines of Ontario remain an enduring source of inspiration.

Originally from Hudson, Quebec, Rob began his career as a photographer’s assistant in Basel, Switzerland. He maintains a photographic gallery in Lake of Bays, Ontario, and shares his experience through teaching and workshops. He also co-authored An Artist’s and Photographer’s Guide to Wild Ontario.
