Missy Mandel

Missy Mandel portraitMissy Mandel is an award-winning Canadian wildlife and nature photographer. She loves photography because it allows her to better appreciate the wonderful things she sees. Nature connects with something deep inside her, influencing how she sees and photographs the natural world.

The more Missy photographs and observes wildlife, the more she is convinced that birds and animals have emotions and feelings. She strives to capture these moments, bringing viewers closer to see the detail, colour and spirit of a wild creature. From backyard songbirds to polar bears on the Canadian tundra, she has a particular affection for the tender interactions between parents and their young.

Her work has appeared in National Wildlife and Canadian Geographic. Her image of Peyto Lake in Banff National Park was selected by the Royal Canadian Mint for a silver commemorative coin celebrating Canada's 150th anniversary.

As a Philanthropic Founding Photographer at MapleVue Images, Missy donates 100% of her photographer royalties from sales of her fine art photography through MapleVue to Parkinson Canada, a cause close to her heart.
