Harry Collins

Harry Collins portraitHarry Collins is an award-winning wildlife and landscape photographer and filmmaker whose work captures the beauty, drama and remarkable diversity of the natural world.

His photographic journey began during a family trip to Alaska, where the sight of a bald eagle, and an imperfect photograph taken with a simple point-and-shoot camera, sparked a lifelong fascination. Largely self-taught, Harry developed his craft through years of fieldwork, patient observation and an enduring curiosity about animal behaviour.

Harry’s photographs are shaped by patience and a deep respect for the animals he encounters. He looks beyond a beautiful portrait to capture moments of personality, tension and connection: the stories that unfold when wildlife is given the time and space to behave naturally. His images invite viewers into those moments, creating a sense of closeness without disturbing the wildness of his subjects.

His work has been featured by National Geographic, BBC Wildlife, Birds & Blooms, Wild Planet Photo Magazine and BirdWatching. In 2017, his image of a great grey owl hunting in New Hampshire received the People’s Choice award in the Wildlife category of the National Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year competition. In 2021, his extraordinary photograph of a lion confronting a young hippopotamus was named The Greatest Maasai Mara Photograph of the Year.

From polar bears in Churchill to wildlife in the Canadian Rockies and the great animals of Africa, Harry’s photographs celebrate the natural world while reminding viewers of its vulnerability, and our responsibility to protect it.
