Rick Bogacz portrait

Rick Bogacz was named Discovery of the Year for minimalism at the 2024 Refocus Photography Awards and has exhibited his work in Canada, the United States and Europe. Specializing in minimalist long exposure landscapes and still life photography, he creates images that evoke a sense of calm through gentle, elegant compositions.

His approach draws on the Japanese philosophy of Ma—the celebration of the space between things—and author Greg McKeown’s emphasis on pursuing what matters most. Negative space plays an essential role in Rick’s work, carrying as much significance as the subject itself.

Born and raised in Toronto, Rick now lives on Lake Vernon near Huntsville, Ontario. His background includes a career in journalism and digital content management.
