As the birdwatching day wound down at Bragg Farms, the Indigo Buntings sang their last sweet tunes, the sparrows tucked themselves deep among the stalks, and the blackbirds finally quieted, letting the sunflower field, and us, settle into a peaceful pause just before nightfall.
The sky decided it wasn’t done yet. It put on a stunning show: fluffy white clouds drifting across a backdrop of orange and blue that kept shifting as the sun dropped lower. The light made the sunflower field glow from underneath, as if the whole place was exhaling after a hot day. The sunflowers stood tall with their heads turned away from the sun, almost like they were bowing in a slow, gentle farewell to the day before the darkness took over.
