Every spring for the past 6 or 7 years the same great horned owl couple returns to nest in a wooded area close to where I live. After watching them over the years, I have a greater appreciation of just how much work it is for both Mom and Dad to keep their owlets well fed, healthy and safe. I feel incredibly fortunate to have witnessed many of their offspring grow from tiny, vulnerable nestlings into strong and competent birds of prey, like this owlet, who hatched in the spring of 2026.
